Rethinking Digital Spaces: How Communities Are Shaping the Future of Inclusive Media

What if our digital spaces weren’t just places to scroll, post, and share—but spaces where real inclusion, dialogue, and peacebuilding could thrive?

That’s the question at the heart of INCLUDE ME+’s latest research, now available to read and download. The “Mediation in Media” reports explore how digital media platforms can become tools for positive change—especially when they amplify the voices of those too often left out of the conversation.

This two-part research release includes:

📘 Desk Research
Eight partner countries—Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Turkey and Ukraine—conducted in-depth studies to understand how digital media can support inclusion and respectful engagement. This report offers an evidence-based overview of current challenges (like online hate, exclusion, and misinformation) as well as practical educational solutions that promote safer, more participatory digital spaces.

🎙️ Participatory Action Research (PAR)
This isn’t research done to people—it’s research done with them. Through community-led insight and collaborative workshops, this report captures how digital users across Europe experience conflict, exclusion, and resilience in online environments. It focuses on lived experience and education-based proposals to foster mediation and peace.

These resources are for anyone invested in building better digital communities—whether you’re a content creator, educator, policymaker, researcher, or simply someone who believes that online spaces should be safe and welcoming for all.

By engaging with the reports, you’ll:

  • Gain a framework for understanding the digital inclusion landscape
  • Learn from real community voices and grassroots insight
  • Explore new ideas for ethical digital content and conflict resolution
  • Discover how education can shape more peaceful and inclusive digital dialogue

🧩 Why does it matter?

Digital media has immense power to connect—but also to divide. For those in marginalised communities, the internet can be both a platform and a battleground. These reports remind us that with the right tools, digital spaces can become arenas for empathy, understanding, and change.
